Keep on Doing Something You Love
Jan 09, 2022Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I love what I do!"? What if we told you that it's easier to feel motivated and passionate about your work if you're doing something you genuinely enjoy? It might sound like a no-brainer, but it's true. For some people, the thought of going to work each day is enough to send them running for the hills. But when we love our jobs and take satisfaction in our accomplishments at the end of the day, it makes all those long hours worth it.
It's vital to do something you love
We have to do many things repeatedly throughout our lives. These are our daily responsibilities and the work that we have to do. At first, things can get exciting as you try new things. However, as time passes, you might find it boring to do the things you used to do with eyes of excitement. We humans need to be motivated to continue doing something, and this is where the need to do something you love enters.
Of course, there are many things in life that we must do out of necessity. If you have a family of your own, you have a moral obligation to sustain their well-being, even if the activity can be stressful. Most people do jobs because maybe it pays well, but the job might not necessarily be something they like. The point with doing something you love is that you have the option of finding a career or job that is very satisfying and fulfilling to you or finding an activity that brings you great joy and setting aside time every day to do it. There are several reasons why doing something that brings you happiness every day is essential.
Increased motivation - When you enjoy doing something, it's easier to stay motivated doing it. It doesn't matter if you have to do it every single day. You become more inspired and gain much conviction when you do something fun and satisfying.
Better productivity - Procrastination can set in when you find your task boring. How will you move forward when you dread doing what you have to do for a living? You become willing to do much more even without being prompted by doing something that's your passion.
Increased positivity - You gain a brighter outlook in life when you spend time doing things that give you joy and energy every day. Slogging every day through work because of the money and not because you enjoy what you are doing can make you feel miserable and develop negative thoughts.
Better health - By becoming more positive, you improve your well-being by filling yourself with inspiration and forward-looking thoughts every day. Conversely, negativity brings you down and makes you more stressed and sick.
Fulfillment and satisfaction - Nothing is more satisfying than feeling fulfilled after doing something you like. If your only goal in doing something is to earn more money, it can feel hollow, and the excitement you get from receiving it might only last for a bit initially.
Success is easier to achieve - Overcoming problems and challenges as you work on your goals becomes more manageable when you know that the reward is worth it and you like what you are doing. Otherwise, you'll quickly give up and forget to do something if you only see them as a burden in your life.
You become an inspiration to others - If your friends and coworkers see you as somebody who truly enjoys what you are doing, won't they be more inspired to do the same? You can inspire people when you find doing something that you love, and you spread that feeling and passion to others.
How to find and do something that you like
Seeing the benefits that doing something you love can bring, you should take a moment to do some soul-searching to find an activity that satisfies your desires. It could be something you once did as a child, but you relegated it to the side due to being busy with adult life. Sometimes, you don't even have to search anymore as you already know what you like to do in your heart. The problem is that we can't help but focus on doing things that will bring food to the table and sustain our lives, usually by doing a job unrelated to our passion. You then have two options: turn your passion into a career and find a job related to it, or continue doing your current job but set aside a regular time every day to do what you love.
Turning your passion into a career might be challenging to pull off. Many of us will pursue an education that leads to a good-paying job. However, it's also possible that you will end up with a job unrelated to your degree in college or university. Lucky for you if you managed to study for a degree to your liking and get a job meant for your degree. So if you are currently working on a job that gives decent pay, you might hesitate to drop your current job and look for something else for the sake of passion. It would help if you didn't give up easily and continue looking for options while still working. Maybe you can create your business or live an active lifestyle that is suited to your tastes; it's just that it might take a while before you get there.
If it's not possible to switch careers, you can take steps to ensure that you can do what you love without sacrificing your current job. For example, if you are passionate about something, you will find time to do it regardless of your circumstances. You can set a short time before going to your job to do your passion or always set a time to do it after work. Knowing your priorities makes it easy to understand which things you can forgo in favor of doing your passions. When you set time every day to do something you love, you look more forward to each day, knowing you'll have time to do your passions again.
Stick to what you love doing
Finding the time to do what you love is not easy. Making a career change to follow what you are passionate about can be a frightful experience. Our daily responsibilities can also hinder us from having the time to do what we love. The challenging part is that we can't just discard doing some things in life because they can provide the means for us to continue living, especially on financial terms. However, when you realize the positive effects that doing something you love can bring, you will find ways to do them even during the busiest days. Success is not always about money; it's also about having the ability to do what you love to bring fulfillment and enjoyment to your life.
