JB Glossinger [00:00:09]:
Good morning. And welcome to Morning Codes Today. I am so glad you're with us. Hey. It's JB. This is a place to get your day started with energy and also get the plan. Right? The plan that's gonna take you there. It's just not about the mornings.
JB Glossinger [00:00:32]:
It's about what we're doing every day with our plan and structuring. And here we are, September 9, 2024, episode 5,449. Excited you're with me as we are rocking this plan. It is a due month for those of you that started with this, you know, back in December and really worked your plan together. And for those of you that are brand new, welcome. Just hang on. There's a lot here and keep it to the basics. Okay? And even if you've been with me for a long time, let's keep it to the basics, which means what do we do? Metaphysical morning ritual, get up, take some time for self love, self care.
JB Glossinger [00:01:09]:
Right? Very important point we've been talking about the last few weeks. Take care of yourself. You you love yourself. You deserve it. K? Take some time for self care every morning. Listen, coach cast. You made it. Awesome job.
JB Glossinger [00:01:22]:
Pat on the back. Literally, go ahead and pat yourself on the back of your hair listening. Plan your day with those 7 Ps that we talk about so much. Have the right perspective. Set those priorities. Let's get better and focus on improved performance. Have patience with systems and structures. Keep great posture.
JB Glossinger [00:01:38]:
Stay present in the moment, really critical, and persist. We do that day by day. And then as you get through that, organize with the planner. By the way, in the community, Ken's been working on some designs, excited about the new planner for 2025. Get that sacred 6 set up. And if you're doing some of the more advanced stuff, you could take a picture of that and send it into our companion. And, of course, stop by the community for accountability questions and support. So excited.
JB Glossinger [00:02:02]:
I mean, I am just pumped. This is my time of year. We're getting into the middle of September, which means, guess what, we're coming closer to Halloween. I can't believe how fast this year is going. But this September, October is really about closing up loose ends, get things done as we go into November December. December is obviously our planning month, Really getting things in order so that we can just keep the momentum going into 2025. Hard to even talk about that. I I can't believe it, but it is the truth.
JB Glossinger [00:02:29]:
And we do that through our systems, and that's why we're here 365 days of the year, whether it's me, doctor Paul, or one of our other guests, you know, we're here for you. This is that's what it's about. We're here for you. So excited this week. We got a big week for you. Also, our meetups are taking off. We got a meetup Tuesday with Karen. If you haven't met Karen, you should stop by and meet Karen.
JB Glossinger [00:02:53]:
She is just one of the most amazing people. Karen has a business where she's got a couple businesses, but her main business started in ecommerce, and her background is just pretty, pretty unusual. You'll need to meet Karen, and she's built this wonderful business with has a whole team overseas and also does a lot in the ecommerce space. So she really understands that area. And then, you know, she's also works with VAs, and so she's got this really great knowledge of systems. She's a great problem solver. So you get a chance to stop by, that's at 11 AM EST Eastern Standard Time, and you're gonna I'm doing this. I'm trying.
JB Glossinger [00:03:30]:
3 p. M. UTC I believe it's 3 p. M. UTC time I and and the way we do meetups Just so you know especially if you're new please go check the time where do you find it go in the community click meetup? We got a ton of them Community meetups. These are run by community members. Des is doing them. Lori's got one.
JB Glossinger [00:03:48]:
Alistair's coming in. We got just great people doing things. We got a European group. Get a chance. Come to a meetup. And and you don't even need to turn your video on. Right? Just come sit in the room. Love to have you introduce yourself, but I'm telling you, it's going to be a really, really awesome chance for you to meet some great people, and we're doing them all the time.
JB Glossinger [00:04:10]:
So if you can make them, you know, make couple of them, please do. And the one with Karen, is tomorrow. So it's an opportunity to have a business brunch with Karen, meet, hang out. Love to see you in there. Okay. So this week, what are we doing? We're talking about training lately, but this is our month for health and fitness and well-being. Obviously, I love that. I've been running 5 k's.
JB Glossinger [00:04:30]:
I've been running half marathons just to get in better shape, but but I'm realizing I'm in the upper 1% or 2% of the people my age. So it's crazy that I'm kind of becoming a pro athlete at age 55 for my age group. I've got 3 companies looking to sponsor me. This all happened since April, and it all happened by executing with the get it done now plan. So I live what I teach. I live what I teach. I'm showing you that since April, I literally put a plan together using our systems, and I do it consistently every day. And now I'm in the upper 1 or 2 percentile.
JB Glossinger [00:05:02]:
Did I have some talent? Maybe. My grandpa was a good runner, but I just have the had the ability to really focus on this. And those of you in the metaphysical group, you know, the idea of manifesting is what it's about. And having that focus on health is so important. And so we're gonna talk about that. We're gonna talk about why do we train? Why should we do, you know, why should we go out and and do some physical things today? Why should we do some mental things, which you're already doing the mental things. Congratulations. But we're gonna talk about training and some things today.
JB Glossinger [00:05:30]:
Tomorrow, we got our book study, The Second Mountain. I am having fun with this book. Again, for those of you that are new, I don't endorse the people that are doing these books. I don't endorse the books. I pick books that have been referred to us. Obviously, if you look at our compass on the site, you know, we do one every month. We've got I mean, literally, there's tons of books there that we've done. You can go back and listen to the CoachCast on them.
JB Glossinger [00:05:51]:
But, basically, I picked these books because they've been referred to me. You don't have to agree to everything in these books. Right? We're trying to find books that kinda, you know, we can open our mind to, and so we wanna be making sure, you know, we're finding things that work for us. So 2nd mountain is one of those books that's affecting me. I don't know if I agree with everything in the book. Right? It's by David Brooks, but I'm enjoying it. We're gonna get into it, and it's really about moving from ego, which is what we're about. So there are a lot of there's a lot of correlation.
JB Glossinger [00:06:17]:
But again, just just so you know, I don't know who David Brooks is. It's not an endorsement. We do a book every month so that we're expanding our mind and becoming better critical thinkers. K? On Wednesday, we've got the importance of a quick start, and this can be important one. Why we need to get out of the gates quick on a lot of things we do, whether it's business life relationships. I'm gonna go over why sometimes a slow start hurts us. It's a good it's gonna be a good one. You wanna be here Wednesday.
JB Glossinger [00:06:38]:
Thursday, I've got s j b struggling to begin, and I'm gonna talk about why sometimes you need to let the past go. We're gonna talk about our second brain system that we talk about some sometimes and Tiago Forte, who we use, like, kinda his philosophies, which I like in the PAR method. But why you need to just get started and not worry about the the stuff behind us. K? This is gonna be a really important day for some of the users that that are struggling. Maybe you have a little OCD. Maybe you you don't wanna you know, you've got loose ends in the back and you're so worried about them. It's keeping you from moving forward. Get here Thursday.
JB Glossinger [00:07:10]:
Friday, we've got getting the stress under control. Understanding stress and pressure. Pressure makes diamonds, but we don't want that. So we're gonna rock that. And then Saturday, obviously, doctor Paul jumps in. And Sunday, we've got the sun will come up tomorrow. Just a fun day on Sundays to kinda get our head in the right place. So really excited.
JB Glossinger [00:07:28]:
There's a lot going on. Again, if you get a chance to go in the community, the meetups are unbelievable. Just click the meetup tab. If you're having trouble with that, hit info at morning coach.com. And also the planner feedback's really critical because this is a time we got a couple months here to dial in 2025 so that you got the planner that you're gonna love. We're working with remarkable 2 right now because most of our users have that, but there will be planners for other devices, and the planner will work on other devices. But if you have the remarkable 2, it is going to be just amazing for you, because we have so many people here with them. So excited.
JB Glossinger [00:07:59]:
Alright. New oh, and by the way, in the community, there's new circles because so many people are asking about sales and marketing and business. Make sure when you go in there, there's gonna be some new dialogue. In each of those circles, you can you can discuss sales and marketing and some of the other areas that we're in. Okay. So here's the deal. Why Trane? And I posted this on Facebook a few weeks ago because people were asking me, why are you becoming so insane about this running? Right? And there are some personal reasons. I I wanted to quit drinking.
JB Glossinger [00:08:28]:
I wanted to focus on my health. I wanted to get stronger. I wanted to compete. Golf just hasn't been doing it for me. I'm not feeling the competitive edge in golf. I don't feel the athletic ability in golf. Now I get it. Golf is very difficult.
JB Glossinger [00:08:40]:
And as you get older, it's hard to find sports you can participate in and compete. And obviously, golf is some level of competition. But if you can drink a case of beer and go out there and beat me at golf, it's not the same as running a half marathon in an hour and 40 minutes. You're not going to be able to drink a case of beer and do that. So there's athletic ability that's involved in training and and really working hard at it. Now, I'm not saying golf doesn't involve that, but you can be a non athlete and be good at golf. Right? So it doesn't give me the same satisfaction as being able to go out there and run an hour and 30, which is my goal, minute and a half marathon, or break a sub 25 k, which if you do all the research puts you in the upper one percentile. For me to do that in golf, I'd have to be a, you know, a scratch golfer, and it's just honestly the time and energy to do that.
JB Glossinger [00:09:26]:
It's not what I wanna do. So I've been kind of moving away from that into running because I enjoy it. The other thing that I think is really important, and this is why I posted on Facebook is, not only is a competitive aspect of it great, but there's another reason, and it's a deeper reason why we do anything. And that is because other people can't and I can't. Let me explain that. And that doesn't mean in a in a negative sense or narcissistic or egotistical sense. It just means that a lot of people can't. And as you reach 2nd mountain, as David Brooks, we're getting in that book, discusses, it's more about you.
JB Glossinger [00:09:56]:
K? Listen. It's more about you doing things because you have the ability to do them. It's a gift. So to be able to run at the speed that I run and be able to train the way I do, it's a gift. So I'll give you example. I was I was running the other day by Pine Lake. It's where I go by the retreat center here, and I was running down the lake. Their school bus, all the traffic was backed up, and there was a young man in a wheelchair, and they were loading him into the school bus.
JB Glossinger [00:10:22]:
And as I'm running I'm just going man what what blessings that I have that I have legs at work and I know you know there are people that don't listen morning coach you go. Oh, that's so cheesy. No, it's not cheesy. It's a privilege of mine that I can go run and I need to run for him Right? I need to run because he will never be able to do it. And when I first learned this, I was teaching elementary school. I was a substitute teacher and I was doing gym. I used to be a gym teacher as a substitute, and I was making the kids run. And if you're, you know, from my age group, when we were kids, we'd run around the gym.
JB Glossinger [00:10:53]:
Well, they would bring the kids in to have them run to kind of burn the energy out, and half the kids would complain. You'd always have the 2 kids that took off running as fast as they could. Right? And they had run around the gym. They loved it. And then you had the regular group that was just running, and then you had the complainers like, oh my god. This is horrible. I can't believe I gotta run. This is terrible.
JB Glossinger [00:11:12]:
Why would you make me do this? This is hell. I hate this stuff. And they're cussing and swearing. And I'll never get you know, I'd I'd be yelling, don't cut corners, you know, got my whistle. Don't cut corners, you know, while I had the gym teacher, that was me. And I'll never get the doors open. There were those 2 big double doors, you know, like gyms with the push where you'd push them to come in. Well, they push them open, the double doors came open, and a kid came in.
JB Glossinger [00:11:35]:
He had 2 crutches, and he had leg braces on. And he went in the corner with the teacher. There were 2 teachers, like a teacher saying the teacher, and they were talking to him, and they all stood in the corner. And I couldn't help but think. And I looked over at him, and I looked at the people complaining. And I said, you're complaining about something that he would absolutely love to do. And it really hit me hard. It really was one of those moments, like a self actualized moment, like, man, dude, you need to wake up.
JB Glossinger [00:12:05]:
You don't understand what life's really about. What are the blessings that you have? So understanding that, it really opened my eyes up. And we were in the Mastermind meeting and somebody said, what were you, what were we talking about in the in the coach cast few weeks ago, memento mori? And basically, memento mori is a Latin phrase that basically means you will die. Like, you you should be motivated. Like, it's a positive thing to me. It's like you you're not gonna be here forever. So live your life. Memento Mori.
JB Glossinger [00:12:34]:
So when I think of Memento Mori, I think of the kid. I think of that kid and I think, man, these people are complaining about stuff that they would they he would dream to do. So it it really affected me to look at my life and say, what am I what am I complaining about? Or what am I not using that I have? So my brain, my legs, my arms, my ability to do things, those are gifts, right? Not everybody has that. And that's why I start number 1, like the p for those of you that are brand new. That's perspective. When you're running and you see a child and, you know, the grandparents, they were older, they're lifting me up, I didn't get to see him very close, could have been a girl, I didn't get to see if it's a him or her, but I was pretty far back, and I could see them, and then I ran around the bus to the left side and ran around. When you see them loading a kid up into a, you know, into a school bus, and then I'm remembering the kid at, you know, when I was at Knox High School teaching, It's a matter of perspective. It changes everything.
JB Glossinger [00:13:32]:
It really does. And I used to when I was in Florida, every once in a while, before I started being a real runner, now I'm really working on running. I used to run once in a while, and I'd run through the cemetery. I wasn't training, but I'd just run. In the cemetery, I'd look at those tombstones and I'd be, man, these people aren't here anymore. And it really made me think about life. Steve Jobs used to say, you know, death is a great motivator, momento mori, right? Because you're not gonna be here. And I think that's the key.
JB Glossinger [00:13:57]:
Like, we gotta do our plan. We gotta execute, but we also gotta have the right perspective every single day. And so why do I train so hard? It's for others. I'm realizing that it's second mountain of life. You know, the first mountain is egoic and, yeah, I wanna look good and feel good, all that stuff. Now it's not so much about that. It's like, don't spit in the face of God, whatever you personally believe. Right? Don't spit in the face of that child that you were given the opportunity and you aren't taking advantage of it.
JB Glossinger [00:14:25]:
As I always tell you when it comes to health, I'm not talking about being a supermodel. I'm just saying just go use what you've got. If that means just walking around the block today, that means walking around the block and then getting down in front of your planner and doing this morning routine. Your life will be better. The benefits will be amazing. But more importantly, even in the life that you get and the benefits that come from it, do it for even in the life that you get and the benefits that come from it do it for those that can't. Do it for those that can't and focus on our blessings and the privileges and the gifts that we've been given and utilize them. You know, we got a saying in golf, you know, and obviously I play a lot of golf.
JB Glossinger [00:15:02]:
If you've been given a gift, utilize it. I was watching it. I can't remember who it was, but he hit it. He sliced it off to the right side into the lava bed in Hawaii, bounced twice, and then rolled on the green, and he put it in for eagle. And they're like, what a break. Well, if you get a break, use it. See, he took advantage of the break. That's awesome to me.
JB Glossinger [00:15:22]:
You know? That's a privilege. That's a gift that you've been given. So what gifts have you been given? And believe me, just to have eyes, just to have ears, just to have a nose, just to be able to sense smell and taste, just to be able to walk around is a gift. That's perspective. And when you have that perspective, it changes all your priorities. And that's gonna improve your performance. And it gets best back to our 7 piece. So today, as we go out, and especially if you're new, welcome.
JB Glossinger [00:15:53]:
I'm glad you're here. You have found the right place and you're in the right place at the right time as we start getting your plan together And then we get into December just Katie bar the door right hold on because we've got a great system We have a great structure. We're all working together The meetups are gonna get better and better. People are coming together. This is just a great time to be alive, and it's a great time to be here. So have the right perspective and set those priorities today. Okay? Because you're gonna make a difference in your life, which is in turn gonna make a difference in other people's life. And that's how we make the world a better place and also make ours a better place.
JB Glossinger [00:16:30]:
Alright? So I love you. Let's go do it to it. I'll be back tomorrow with the second mountain and David Brooks. But today, set those right priorities, have that right perspective.
